Steel Above Ground MSR Nonmetallic Coalescing Systems in Underground Vaults Accessories Accessories Information: Floating Skimmers MSR Floating skimmers are useful for removing an oil-water mixture from the surface of a pond or collection pit as well as removing oil from the surface of the water in an oily water separator. They are available in a range of sizes and skimming rates to meet the needs of most projects. Cleaning Wands MSR modules are designed to be cleaned in place with the special cleaning wand and city water pressure. The wand has an ordinary garden hose connection and is equipped with a small conical strainer in the connection so that solids in the inlet water will not clog the holes in the end of the cleaning wand. The MSR Cleaning wand is constructed of non-corrosive stainless steel and other non-corrosive materials. A heavy-duty brass hose connection and PVC valve are provided to ensure long service life. The wand has numerous spray holes and provides a specially designed spherical water spray that impacts both the top and undersides of the coalescing plates to give a strong cleaning action. Belt Skimmers Belt skimmers are useful where automatic removal of oil from the separator is desired. The continuous belt hangs down into the separator and is moved through the oil layer on top of the water. The belt skimmer utilizes a special continuous Buna-n rubber belt that attracts oil and holds the oil on the belt as the belt rises to the top head above grade. Two scrapers, one on each side of the belt scrape the oil off of the belt into an oil separator where much of the water that is raised along with the oil is separated and returned to the sump. The separated oil is directed to a drum or other tank for disposal.
