remembering the past

MSR proudly remembers the winter of 2010 where one of our units was utilized by the Canadian Forces at the Winter Olympics in Whistler, BC. The Canadian Forces managed the security at the Olympics. Because the area in Whistler was very crowded with both athletes and spectators, the main security base was located a few kilometers down the mountain. The road to Whistler from Vancouver is known as the Sea to Sky Highway and runs along the eastern bank of the beautiful Cheakamus River. To protect the water from possible contamination with oil from the trucks and other vehicles used, berms were placed around the area. This was prepared in order to capture all of the water runoff from the passing vehicles. Initially during this process, the captured water (mostly snowmelt from the vehicles) was drummed and trucked down the mountain for disposal. Unfortunately, this was both an expensive and inconvenient means of operation.

Original MSR 11 Unit

The Canadian Forces contacted Langley Concrete Group, the MSR representative in British Columbia, for a solution to their problem. We suggested a model MSR 11 unit, as shown to the right , to process the water for removal of the oil so that it could be disposed of safely into the environment. This unit was utilized for the entire duration of the Olympics, and the Canadian Forces officers estimated that they had saved at least $50,000.
